When Cerridwen sets you a task, you do it, to the letter, unless the task itself has other ideas for you. This happened to Gwion Bach innocently tending a cauldron Awen - the elixir of inspiration, not meaning to taste a drop, but the Awen had other ideas, over boiled the pot and flew onto his thumb. It hurt he had to put his thumb in his mouth of course - then everything changed for ever!
